THE GRUBBER JIG SERIES:
The Pumpkin Grubber is a variant design of my classic Booger Jig Series. The Grubber features a soft plastic grub tail, orange attractor colors, and extra long webby hackle for that added movement. The Pumpkin Grubber is one of our best dirty water jigs ever. But don't take my word for it. Just take a look below at the results and what Lance Dunham of L.D. Guide Service has to say about our new jig:

The Pumpkin Grubber in action! That bass isn't big enough?
Ok... The pumpkin grubber definitely catches bigger fish. Check this pig out!

This is Lance's "Go-To" jig when the Susquehanna River gets heavily stained or "chocolate-milk" muddy. (When isn't it muddy, right?) This jig looks alive on the dead-drift, swing, bottom-bounce, or crawl. Use a stop-and-go retrieve to give the Grubber the darting motion of a nervous baitfish. From time to time, insert a long, fast tug into the retrieve, as if the baitfish had spotted a predator and decided to scram. Twitching the Grubber below the surface sometimes makes fish mistake it for a wounded minnow. Given the right time and place, each of those techniques will take fish. If one technique doesn't work, try another. Don't worry... the fish will tell you what they want!

10/11/10 - Per Lance Dunham: "I had 1 client with me today and we hit the mother load!! We used JJ's Jigs Pumpkin Grubber which is one of the best dirty water jigs he's made yet. Dave gave me 3 prototypes to try. I still have my first one and I'm up to fish #46 with it in the two days I've used it in the dirty water. Today with my client we boated 45 fish, however 21 of them were from 15" to 19". Here is the grub after 46 fish, still mostly intact."

Dave says: "I can't promise you a trophy bass on your first cast with a Pumpkin Grubber, but I can safely promise you will over time catch a variety of fish under a variety of conditions, often when nothing else is working. Also, you can tell a well-made jig when one is abused by over 45+ fish hook-ups and it's still holding up and working. That's a quality jig made with only the best materials and skills."
Now if the water is really stained and dirty (think chocolate milk colored) I recommend during using a heavier jig weight such as a 3/16oz or a 1/4oz due to the faster current. If you don't think the orange body of the Pumpkin Grubber will show up in this dirty water, I have the solution. Well, actually one of my best customers, Mr. Rob Policasto had the solution. He asked me to make him some Pumpkin Grubber jigs in all black. So of course I jumped on his idea and made it happen. I proudly give you: Policastro's Darth Grubber. Yes, a JJ's Grubber Jig has gone to the "dark side of the force." Thanks Rob!!

The 'Ugly' Grubber Jig
The Purple Grubber Jig
Due to customer demand we were asked to create two new color schemes in the Grubber JIg Series: The Ugly Grubber Jig, and The Purple Grubber Jig (because purple is the NEW black!). These new colors are available for immediate purchase. Please don't think that the Grubbers are just for smallmouth bass... Oh No! Largemouth Bass love 'em too!
